Born in Naples, after his studies in 1981, he joined the corps de ballet of the Real Teatro San Carlo under the direction of Maestro Ugo Dell’Ara. He was immediately engaged as a soloist in Giselle by A. Alonso, Romeo and Juliet by N. Beriosov, Pulcinella and Coppelia by U. Dell’Ara, La Signora delle Camelie by A. Mendez, Concerto di Arangues, and Concerto dell’Albatro by M. Pistoni. Later, Maestro Dell’Ara invited him again as a soloist at the Arena di Verona and the Teatro Regio di Torino in the ballet Excelsior.
Maestro G. Carbone, director of the Arena di Verona, invited him to join his company, where he quickly became a principal dancer.
From 1983 onwards, he participated in all the productions and tours, dancing in The Firebird, Après-midi d’un faune, The Four Seasons, and Dialoghi by G. Carbone. He also worked with B. Cullberg in Ritratto di Famiglia, J. Kylian in Sinfonia in D, and Mats Ek in Down in the North.
Maestro M. Pistoni chose him as the lead in Mandarino Meraviglioso alongside Luciana Savignano.
In 1986, he joined the Royal Swedish Ballet, where for two years he had the opportunity to perform in all the company’s classical and contemporary productions. Notable works include Napoli by Bournonville, The Nutcracker by H. Spoerli, Romeo and Juliet by J. Cranko, The Rite of Spring by M. Bejart, Embrace Tiger by G. Tetley, and Sinfonietta by J. Kylian. During the same period, he also collaborated with the Balletto di Venezia, where he danced in Romeo and Juliet and the world premiere of Don Quixote, choreographed by B. Cullberg.
In the 1988/89 season, he joined the prestigious company of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (MaggioDanza), directed by Maestro E. Polyakov, where he danced in the major repertoire titles, performing lead roles in Sleeping Beauty by A. Holmes, Infiorata a Genzano by A. Bournonville, The Nutcracker, Giselle, and Swan Lake by E. Polyakov, Romeo and Juliet by R. Van Dantzig, Onegin by J. Cranko, Paquita, Don Quixote by R. Noureev, Coppelia by C. Jude, and Don Quixote by V. Derevianko. He also performed major roles in the Balanchine repertoire: Apollon, The Four Temperaments, Serenade, Agon, Who Cares, and Concerto Barocco. Other highlights include Pilar of Fire and Dark Elegies by A. Tudor, The Moor’s Pavane and The Unsung by J. Limon, Tout Satie and Proust by R. Petit, France Dance by W. Forsythe, La Ronde by E. Polyakov, Van Gogh by V. Nebrada, Largo and Chairman Dance by L. Childs, The Road by M. Pistoni, The Rite of Spring by P. Taylor, Petrouchka and The Firebird by M. Fokine, Das Marienleben by G. Paoluzzi, Pretty Ugly by A. Miller, Teorema and Achilles and Penthesilea by D. Bombana, Carmen by A. Amodio, L’Après-midi d’un Faune by Nijinsky, and Carmen by A. Alonso.
At the same time, he was frequently a guest in other theaters, such as the Arena di Verona in Romeo and Juliet, Aida, and Mandarino Meraviglioso; the Teatro Nuovo in Turin in Carmen by O. Danowski; with the Compagnia Balletto Italiano directed by C. Fracci; and at the Teatro Petruzzelli in the world premiere of Medea by D. Bombana.
He danced with international étoiles such as Luciana Savignano, Alessandra Ferri, Carla Fracci, Florence Clerc, Elena Pankova, Letizia Giuliani, Greta Hodgkinson, Eleonora Abbagnato, Marie-Claude Pietragalla, and Myrna Kamara. He performed in New York, Budapest, Prague, Stockholm, Tunis, Ljubljana, Munich, Dortmund, Ontario, St. Petersburg, as well as in major Italian theaters.
In 2012, with the choreography of P. Chalmer, in the world premiere of Swan Lake and the Tchaikovsky Enigma, he concluded his dance career and continued his work as a classical dance teacher and repertory coach, also participating in numerous workshops, festivals, and competitions.
